I can teach private, semi-private and small group lessons through my home studio in southeast Portland, at your own location, or at a number of aerial and circus studios in Portland. Look at my calendar to see when I’ll be offering classes around town. Not local to Portland? Contact me to talk about a visiting artist workshop in your town!
“You will not find a more gentle, kind, and fierce coach. Ari is a gem, and I highly recommend taking class from him. He is excellent at helping you negotiate with the limits of your body and fears, and you will learn do things you didn’t think YOU could!”
“Ari is one of the spunkiest, charismatic and fun loving instructors we have yet to encounter!”
For me, teaching means supporting students’ playful process of self-discovery and self-affirmation. I provide affordable instruction in circus arts to help progressive social movements use creativity and play to build momentum, and also just for fun!
I encourage students to bring their whole selves. That means you! Every body is welcome at my workshops. I teach adults and kids of all ages, races, body types, sexual orientations, genders, and abilities. My goal is to help you discover all of the amazing things your body can do, just as it is today, and to offer support and wisdom as you work towards your goals for creative physicality!
Here’s a sampling of the workshops I often teach:
- ensemble work
- physical theater
- tumbling and hand balancing
- partner acrobatics
- aerial dance including:
- static and dance trapeze,
- aerial fabric,
- invented apparatus
- sequencing and act creation
- character development
For social justice groups, I also offer:
- Physical, creative group building activities
- Theater techniques to engage constituents for movement building
